Position Summary
Our client, a well-established precision manufacturing company in Independence, IA, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality precision components while maintaining strict quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC machining, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to independently set up machines, make adjustments, and inspect finished parts. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
- Perform machine setups including tooling changes, fixture setup, and offsets.
- Make adjustments to CNC programs at the machine as needed.
- Produce precision components while maintaining tight tolerances.
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to improve quality and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and cutting speeds/feeds.
- Strong understanding of precision measurement tools and inspection processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and make machine adjustments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Preferred Experience
- CNC setup experience.
- Ability to edit G-code at the machine.
- Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC controls.
- Experience machining tight-tolerance components.
- Background in precision manufacturing, custom machining, or job shop environments.
