Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Mechanical / Industrial Engineer or Engineer Technician to join our urethane manufacturing team. In this role, the employee will be responsible for several engineering functions including making and reviewing relevant drawings, documenting and facilitating Custom production molding efforts and related functions, and work needed to generate, develop, document and implement new part details, process flow, work instructions and other various procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and complete mold and part designs, including cost estimation, and prototyping, with emphasis on mold & fixture design and hands on first article validation.
- Development and documentation of proper molding, metal prep and finishing techniques, including hands on training of Custom production personnel.
- Facilitating repair and maintenance of existing production tooling and equipment.·
- Other duties assigned by a supervisor, within the requirements & scope of the job.
Requirements
EDUCATION / SPECIALIZED TRAINING:
- Minimal qualifications include a BS in ME / IE or BS in MET / IET
- Ability to read blueprints and work with 3D CAD models
- Knowledge of general CNC machining and fabrication techniques
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 2-5 years of experience in a hands-on engineering position with a solid understanding of basic engineering, manufacturing processes, and machining principles
- Competence in 3D CAD modeling, familiarity with Autodesk Inventor a plus
- Ability to help troubleshoot machines, hardware and optimize process flows
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 3D Modeling Competency
- Basic use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to work with and train production personnel on developed processes
WORKING CONDITIONS (exposure to noise/potential dangers/chemicals etc.)
- Mixed, mainly office duties ~ 60% with shop floor duties ~ 40% as required
- Position requires working on plant floor around chemicals (including solvents or solvent-based products and isocyanate-containing materials).
- Oral and written communication with production employees on plant floor
