Summary: Responsible for providing substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services to women/men 18 years and older in a residential setting in the form of: admissions and discharges, treatment planning, group facilitation, maintain accurate records, progress reports, family support and education.
Education Requirements and Experience:
UMICAD CADC I, II, or III or LADC certified.
AA Degree in Human Services related field and at least three years supervised work experience in the Chemical Dependency field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in the chemical dependency field would be considered.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Familiarity with Leech Lake Reservation and Social Service agencies in surrounding areas.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills including customer service skills.
Must keep credentials current (CD Certification or LADC).
Knowledgeable and skilled in addressing current substance abuse trends.
Must be practiced in a variety of counseling techniques and case management strategies.
Must be well acquainted with laws and statutes regarding client rights and services.
Resourceful, detail orientated and exceptionally well organized.
Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively, good attendance and punctuality is a must.
If chemically dependent, must document 2 years of chemical free sobriety
High degree of professional ethics.
Native American Preference.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe A&D Positions.
Supervisory Duties:
Supervise, train, evaluate and provide general guidance to the Counselor Trainees.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Work with supervisors and staff to develop quality and effective treatment programming by promoting communication and networking amongst staff and other related programs.
Provide direction for clientele orientation and participate in admission and discharge of clientele.
Collect data for screening and conduct comprehensive assessments.
Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documented services provided.
Provide family support and education to clientele as part of their treatment plans.
Coordinate communications with case managers, courts, probation officers, and other post-treatment agencies for effective goal settings and contingencies for discharge.

Develop client treatment plans based on research, clinical experience and client's records history (update as needed) Provide referrals to appropriate services as needed.
Facilitate individual counseling and planned group sessions with specific goals and exercises.
Provide educational material and information regarding health risks, including AIDS, Hepatitis and STD's besides other associated infections and diseases.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American Culture.
Adhere to policies governing conduct.
