Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and events that enhance the quality of life for our residents. In this vital role, you will develop, coordinate, and oversee a variety of recreational activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of seniors, including those with memory care requirements. Duties
- Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of recreational activities, including outings, games, arts and crafts, and special events that cater to residents’ interests and abilities.
- Develop innovative programs focused on memory care, dementia support, and aging issues counseling to promote engagement and mental stimulation.
- Coordinate resident events by collaborating with staff, families, and community partners to ensure successful participation and enjoyment.
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interactions that foster trust, companionship, and a sense of belonging.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently using Microsoft Office tools to ensure timely delivery of programs while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Lead team efforts by supervising activity staff and volunteers, providing guidance on program development and resident engagement strategies.
- Maintain open communication with residents’ families and healthcare providers to tailor activities that support individual needs and preferences.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within senior living or assisted living environments.
- Extensive knowledge of assisted living facilities, nursing homes, geriatrics, Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and memory support programs.
- Strong background in recreational therapy, caregiving, or working directly with seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging residents effectively and coordinating with team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, reporting, and program documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful programs that promote resident well-being and socialization.
- Leadership skills to supervise staff and foster a collaborative team environment focused on resident-centered care.
