Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dairy Calf Care Technician to join our dynamic farming team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the daily care, health, and well-being of young dairy calves, ensuring they receive proper nutrition, hygiene, and handling. Responsibilities
- Provide attentive animal care by feeding, watering, and monitoring calves’ health and behavior daily.
- Maintain clean and safe living environments for calves, including bedding management and sanitation protocols.
- Assist with the safe handling and movement of livestock using appropriate livestock management techniques.
- Operate farm machinery such as tractors, side by side, and other equipment safely and efficiently for feeding, cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment inspections to ensure all tools and machinery are in optimal condition.
- Follow strict safety standards in production environments while handling heavy lifting, manual tasks, and equipment operation.
- Support team members with tasks related to animal husbandry, equipment repair, welding, irrigation systems, and general farm operations.
Experience
- Prior farm or agricultural experience with livestock management or animal husbandry is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors, forklifts, power tools, or other farm machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair, welding, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), and equipment maintenance is a plus.
- Hands-on outdoor work experience with animals or horticulture is advantageous.
- Familiarity with safety standards in agricultural production environments to ensure safe manual handling and heavy lifting practices.
- Strong manual skills with basic math proficiency for record keeping and operational tasks.
- Previous supervisory experience or team leadership roles are beneficial but not required; a proactive attitude toward learning is essential.
