American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry - Heart/Stroke Unit (5 North) position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience with 1 year of recent specialty experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Work in a 42-bed Heart Failure/Stroke unit dedicated to neurological and cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure and acute stroke

Patient population includes complex neuro-cardiac diagnoses managed in collaboration with cardiologists and neurologists

Patient ratio of 1:6

Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Every other weekend required

Holiday coverage required

Floating to other units and hospitals required

EMR: Meditech (experience not required)

13-week contract
-
Active AL or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted

NURSYS verification required
-
No hits on license (past or current) allowed

Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered with at least 1 year of recent experience in the Med/Surg Telemetry specialty

Current driver's license required for consideration

Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

Provide specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac and neurological conditions, working alongside cardiologists and neurologists to uphold best practice standards

Team is comprised of highly skilled nurses trained specifically in neuro-cardiac care

Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required

Candidates will be required to complete an online pre-test after offer acceptance

Solid navy scrubs required
