Position Summary
The New River Convention Center is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Event Associate to join our team. The Event Associate plays a key role in ensuring events are executed seamlessly by assisting with event setup, guest services, day-of coordination, and event breakdown. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in providing exceptional customer service, and is willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of event spaces according to event specifications.
- Support day-of event operations to ensure events run smoothly and efficiently.
- Welcome and assist clients, guests, vendors, and event participants with professionalism and courtesy.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and help resolve issues to ensure an exceptional event experience.
- Organize and maintain event directories, signage, and other materials to create a welcoming and organized environment.
- Coordinate with the Event Coordinator and other staff to ensure all event details are completed as scheduled.
- Monitor event spaces to maintain cleanliness, safety, and appearance throughout each event.
- Rearrange tables, chairs, linens, and equipment as needed during events.
- Assist with general venue upkeep before, during, and after events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the New River Convention Center.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, event coordination, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a commitment to outstanding customer service.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt to changing event needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and move event furniture and equipment.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors as event needs require.
Schedule
- Flexible schedule required.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event calendar.
