The Position : Help Desk Technician
The Help Desk technician is the first point of contact for technical support at Americare. Reporting to the IT Manager, the technician troubleshoots and resolves everyday hardware, software, software account, cloud and connectivity issues for staff across in person, remote, and hybrid environments, escalating complex problems as needed while maintaining strong customer service and adherence to HIPAA and information-security standards.
Position Qualifications :
- HS Diploma or GED ; Associates degree or relevant IT coursework preferred.
- Zero to 2 years of help desk, desktop support or related IT experience
- Certifications such as Comp TIA A+, Network +, Security +, ITIL Foundation or Microsoft 365 are a plus
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft 365 and Identity; administering Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, and One drive;user provisioning , MFA,SSO and password resets in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and active directory
- Endpoints and devices; supporting Windows 11, MacOS, and mobile (IOS/Android);imaging /deployment and MDM via Intune, Autopilot, or comparable RMM tools ;printers and peripherals
- Networking and connectivity; TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi Fi and VPN/ZTNA fundamentals; basic troubleshooting of switches and access points; VoIP/Teams Phone and conference room A/V.
- Security; endpoint protection (EDR/antivirus), patching , disk encryption (BitLocker/File Vault), password managers, phishing recognition, zero trust principles and HIPAA practices.
- ITSM and documentation; working in a ticketing system (ServiceNow, Jira, Freshservice, or Zendesk) with SLAs; knowledge - based, asset /license, and back up recovery tools,
- Healthcare /EHR support a plus
Core Compentcies
- Clear written, verbal and in person communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with sound customer first judgement
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint ; organized and able to prioritize multiple requests
- Comfort using AI tolls such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI features within the ITSM platform ( triage, summarization, virtual agents) to resolve and document issues faster and help staff adopt them, while never entering PHI or confidential data into unapproved or public AI tools per HIPPA and acceptable use policy and recognizing AI driven threats such as AI phishing and deepfakes.
