Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist the dentist during procedures such as restorations, extractions, and other general dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop medical imaging (X-rays) while adhering to all safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and working with pediatric patients to ensure a comfortable experience.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems for accurate documentation review and data entry.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging procedures relevant to dental care.
