Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in community association law who wants to handle a wide variety of interesting, practical matters while working directly with boards, managers, and clients in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as general counsel to condominium and homeowner associations throughout Central Florida
- Draft, review, and revise governing documents (declarations, bylaws, amendments, rules & regulations)
- Advise boards on corporate governance, elections, quorum, meetings, budgeting, and records requests
- Handle enforcement matters including violation notices, fining, hearings, and compliance
- Manage fair housing issues (FHA, HOPA, ESAs, reasonable accommodations)
- Review and negotiate vendor contracts, management agreements, and other agreements
- Represent associations in pre-litigation disputes, mediation, and litigation (motions, discovery, injunctions)
- Prepare demand letters, estoppel certificates, board resolutions, policies, and settlement agreements
- Respond to developer transitions, turnover issues, and special assessment matters
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to boards and community association managers (LCAMs)
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership in good standing
- 1–5 years of relevant experience preferred (community association law, real estate, or civil litigation)
- Strong drafting and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong client-service orientation
- Prior experience with Florida Statutes Chapters 718 and 720 is a significant plus
