Receptionist (Growth Path to Office Administrator)
Company: Venture Construction, Inc. Location: Concord, NH — On-site Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $18/hour Reports To: Accounting Manager
About Us
Venture Construction is a growing construction company that works with federal and state agencies, municipalities and commercial owners throughout North America. We're looking for an organized, personable receptionist who wants to grow with us. This role is designed with a clear path toward an Office Administrator position for the right candidate.
About the Role
As our first point of contact, you'll keep the front office running smoothly while learning the operational side of a construction business. This isn't a "just answer phones" role — we're looking for someone eager to take on more responsibility over time, with mentorship and training provided as you grow into a broader administrative role.
What You'll Do (Receptionist Duties)
- Greet visitors, vendors, and subcontractors; manage front desk and office phone lines
- Route calls and messages to the appropriate team members
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and deliveries
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office
- Order office supplies and manage inventory
- Assist with scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars
- Data entry and light filing (paper and digital)
- Support the accounting and project management teams with basic administrative tasks
What You'll Grow Into (Office Administrator Path)
As you demonstrate reliability and initiative, you'll have the opportunity to take on:
- Coordinating subcontractor documentation (COIs, W-9s, lien waivers)
- HR support — onboarding paperwork, employee file maintenance
- Assisting with bid packages and vendor registration/compliance documents
- Managing office vendor relationships and facilities coordination
- Cross-training in our accounting software ([Foundation Software], if applicable)
(Advancement is based on performance and is not automatic or guaranteed on a fixed timeline — but it's a real path we actively support.)
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree a plus but not required
- Front-desk, administrative, or customer service experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy environment
- Professional demeanor — you're often the first impression of our company
- A proactive mindset — willing to ask questions, take initiative, and learn new systems
- Construction industry experience is a plus but not required
