Position Summary
The Packaging Technician accurately and efficiently prepares and packages cannabis for resale, in compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. Packaging Technicians ensure products consistently meet weight, quality, labeling, and brand standards, while minimizing waste.
Packaging Technicians work as a team to fulfill orders quickly and accurately and report to the Packaging Supervisor.
Packaging Technicians earn $16.50 per hour to start.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Packaging Technician’s key responsibilities are to:
- Show up on time, with a great attitude, ready to work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace, in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow all cannabis handling state regulations and company policies.
- Prepare bulk products for packaging. Inspect cannabis flower for defects, mold, or damage before packaging.
- Efficiently fill and pack containers to weight, quality and order specifications.
- Effectively operate digital scale by calibrating scale daily, filling scale calibration log, properly using labeling and packaging equipment.
- Ensure product size, weight, and quality are consistent with specifications and standard. Verify with the “Packaging Standards Board”.
- Operate pre-roll machine and/or cartridge filling equipment.
- Accurately seal, label, count, and prepare products for final packaging and delivery.
- Apply and verify labels are accurate and compliant, compare labels to Certificate of Authenticity (COA)s.
- Consistently meet daily production goals.
- Assist with inventory management and product tracking.
- Generates conversions in Dutchie, fill Conversions and Waste Logs on a daily basis.
- Communicate any production or quality concerns to the Packaging Supervisor.
- Remain flexible and open to working with different products and packaging types (i.e., jars, bags, pre-rolls, cartridges).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Reliable and extremely trustworthy.
- 21 years of age or older
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Experience operating a pre-roll machine or hand rolling.
- Experience using a digital scale and packaging equipment.
- Applied basic math and metric measurement skills.
- Detail-oriented and systematic.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Passionate about learning everything about cannabis, products, and consumption methods.
- Knowledge of the cannabis industry and state regulation.
Physical Requirements:
The Packaging Technician is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, performing repetitive hand and arm motion. This position also requires bending, stooping, climbing, and kneeling, as needed, to move product and maintain the cleanliness of the packaging room. The Packaging Technician is required to wear protective clothing, including hair covering, lab coat, shoe covers. The Packaging Technician must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds multiple times per day; and may be required to occasionally safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, however, this position may require extended shifts, or weekend shifts, depending on production needs and rush orders.
This position is required to report to their assigned location, in-person.
