CUSTODIAN (FULL-TIME)
Duties: The Zoo Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of zoo facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming, and pleasant environment for visitors, and staff. This position involves general cleaning tasks in public areas, offices, restrooms, and some behind-the-scenes animal care areas, while following proper sanitation and safety protocols. Assists with grounds and events as needed. This position reports to the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent, Manager and Zoo Director.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in janitorial/custodial or related field
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Performs daily cleaning both inside and outside of the zoo buildings
- Trash and recycling removal
- Knowledge of professional cleaning products
- Upkeep of facility restrooms and other guest and staff areas
- Maintain cleaning supply inventory and notify supervisors when stock is low
- Must have a valid drivers’ license
- Must be at least 21+ years of age
Ability: Performs daily cleaning both inside and outside of the zoo, keep a daily log and records, requires standing, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and stand for long periods, Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, Good communication and teamwork skills and other duties as assigned.
