Job Description & Summary
We’re looking for a Transportation Specialist who wants to be part of a great culture and play an integral role in the growth and development of one of our fastest growing global offices! The Transportation Specialist will report directly to the General Manager of Columbus, OH, providing critical operational support, expertise, and daily coordination for our shipping, warehousing, and logistics operations.
Core Operational Responsibilities
Provides daily operational support for the shipping and warehousing/operations team, handling key logistics issues including trucking appointment scheduling, CFS pickup coordination, resolving operational bottlenecks at airports/warehouses, domestic trucking issues, and performing root-cause analysis on operational challenges.
Monitors data integrity and accuracy for the local CMH transportation office, working closely with CFS and warehousing staff to achieve outstanding results in KPIs and billing, and providing summary reports to the General Manager.
Serves as a subject matter expert in CargoWise, ensuring maximized system efficiency, workflow automation, and supporting team members with system knowledge.
Serves as a primary point of contact for the CMH Transportation office to ensure outstanding billing accuracy and timeliness, review invoicing, ensure local accounts are in financial good standing, and proactively address billing or paperwork-related issues.
Customer Service Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process international and domestic inbound/outbound shipping and warehousing documentation, including but not limited to: Air Waybills, Ocean BOLs, Manifests, Customs documents, commercial documents, DG paperwork, storage, leasing, and passthrough documentation.
Serve as a primary point of contact for transportation and warehousing aspects of air, ocean, and road shipments, providing updated inventory management information to both internal and external stakeholders.
Create and maintain transportation department delivery and pickup appointments, working directly with internal and external customers.
Responsible for warehouse lease billing, passthrough management/documentation, inventory management reporting, inbound/outbound shipping logs, trailer lease management, and FARO system entries.
Provide outstanding communication and customer service to all necessary parties.
Work closely with customer service representatives to ensure US Customs obligations are met.
Arrange delivery with subcontractors and secure appointments as required for delivery/pickup.
Ensure all internal and external KPIs are met.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, such as the Code of Conduct, assigned work schedules, etc.
Process & Documentation Responsibilities
Maintain Shipping / Receiving / Warehousing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) while working to streamline internal processes.
Review and process documentation and paperwork provided to/from trucking companies, drivers, and RCS offices worldwide, including Ocean BOLs, Air Waybills, Manifests, AMS/ISF, and US Customs requirements.
Coordinate and audit the release of goods from our CFS, working directly with the assigned customer service representative.
Facilitate and ensure accurate and timely billing to customers, and support Key Account Management and Sales teams with any accounts receivable issues.
Produce required documentation as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or warehouse operations (Freight Forwarder or Carrier background preferred).
Hands-on experience using CargoWise.
Strong understanding of US Customs compliance requirements pertaining to importing, exporting, and transferring air freight.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—collaborative and a dedicated team player at all levels of the organization.
High degree of personal accountability and attention to detail.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent professional industry experience.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
