General Purpose of the Job
Assist the driver during residential waste collection by performing curbside pickup, operating rear truck mechanisms, and ensuring safe and timely route completion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform curbside collection by dumping all cans, bags, and waste materials into the truck.
- Work as a spotter for the driver to ensure safe maneuvering along the route.
- Dismount the truck to collect garbage and remount to proceed to the next stop.
- Operate rear truck mechanisms and assist with fueling and dumping refuse trucks at the landfill.
- Maintain compliance with company safety, maintenance, and operational policies.
- Clean refuse trucks inside and out as required.
- Communicate with dispatchers about delays, unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment breakdowns.
- Stay aware of weather conditions and route hazards.
Required Physical Abilities
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 -75 pounds repeatedly.
- Frequent twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying containers or loose materials.
- Ability to climb, bend, and stand for extended periods; reach above shoulders.
- Capability to operate truck mechanisms and related equipment as needed.
Tools, Equipment & PPE
- Trucks, seat belts, and mechanical controls on the rear of the vehicle.
- Required protective equipment: reflective vest, gloves provided by Noble Environmental, steel‑toe boots will be required for first day.
Work Environment
- Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, wet conditions).
- Possible exposure to chemicals, solvents, and refuse.
- General risks associated with machinery, large trucks, and waste-handling tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to support safe operations.
