Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Female Caregiver with a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) background to join our team in Ottawa, IL. The caregiver will work from 1PM to 5PM, offering vital assistance to clients in a home healthcare setting. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient observation and document changes in health status accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Administer medications and perform medication documentation following home health regulations and HIPAA guidelines
- Support clients with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, hospice, and end-of-life care
- Conduct vital signs assessments, catheter care, and assist with medical procedures like Hoyer lift transfers and basic life support when necessary
- Prepare nutritious meals, assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe environment
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with all healthcare standards and privacy laws
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification with proven experience in geriatrics, long-term care, or home healthcare settings
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, hospice care, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care techniques
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient care activities
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts when required
- Strong patient observation skills coupled with excellent communication abilities
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Understanding of home & community care regulations, HIPAA compliance, and medical records management
