Shoals Hair Co. Academy's Madison Campus is looking for a friendly, organized, dependable person to join our team as a Guest Services Coordinator.
And just so we're clear... we're looking for a little more than someone who can answer a phone and sit behind a desk.
Our front desk is the center of a busy cosmetology school. Students have questions. Clients are checking in. Phones are ringing. Appointments are being made. Someone needs something. Someone else can't find something. And somehow, we need a person who can keep it all moving while still making everyone who walks through the door feel welcome.
If that sounds more fun than overwhelming, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be one of the first people our students, clients, tours, and guests interact with, so personality and customer service matter.
Your day will include things like:
- Greeting clients, students, tours, and guests
- Answering phones and messages
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Checking clients in and out
- Processing payments
- Keeping the appointment book organized
- Answering general questions about services and the school
- Helping students and instructors with basic needs
- Completing light administrative and computer work
- Keeping the front desk clean, organized, and professional
- Helping the team wherever you're needed
Some days will be calm.
Some days absolutely will not be.
We're looking for someone who can handle both.
Who We're Looking For
We don't expect you to know everything on your first day. We can teach systems and procedures.
What we can't teach quite as easily is personality, dependability, common sense, and a good work ethic.
You'll probably fit in well here if you:
- Actually enjoy talking to people
- Are friendly without being unprofessional
- Show up when you're supposed to
- Can stay organized when several things are happening at once
- Are comfortable answering phones and communicating with clients
- Know your way around a computer
- Can learn new systems without panicking
- Notice when something needs to be done
- Don't need someone standing over you to stay productive
- Can laugh and have fun while still getting your job done
- Understand that being part of a team sometimes means jumping in and helping
Previous front desk, salon, customer service, hospitality, or administrative experience is a plus.
An Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering license or previous beauty-industry experience is preferred, but not required.

We'll be upfront. This is one of our more entry-level, part-time positions, so it's not our highest-paying role.

This position is part-time to start, but we're continuing to grow. For someone who is dependable, takes initiative, and becomes an important part of our team, there is opportunity for additional hours, responsibilities, and growth within the company.
We'd much rather find the right person and help them grow than simply hire the first person with front desk experience.

This position isn't available to current Shoals Hair Co. Academy students or immediate family members of currently enrolled students. This helps us maintain professional boundaries and keep campus operations running smoothly.
