Position Summary
Future Foam is seeking a Senior Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our Newton, Kansas manufacturing team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems to maximize safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial maintenance professional with advanced troubleshooting skills in electrical controls, PLCs, automation, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. This individual will serve as a technical resource for the maintenance team, proactively identify equipment improvements, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Install, modify, and commission new and existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, PLC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems using blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Analyze recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term corrective solutions.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, and capital projects.
- Support maintenance of CNC equipment, electrical saws, cutting and compression systems, packaging equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Perform PLC troubleshooting and assist with programming modifications as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment documentation, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate the ordering of maintenance parts and components while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Assist and mentor maintenance technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company maintenance standards and applicable electrical and mechanical codes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety policies, complete required training, and consistently use required PPE.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial PLC troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent diagnostic and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Journeyman Electrician or equivalent industrial electrical experience.
- Experience with PLC programming and automation systems.
- Light machining, fabrication, and welding experience.
- Experience sourcing maintenance parts and coordinating outside repair services.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
