Job Description
South Baldwin Christian Academy (SBCA) is currently seeking candidates for a Physical Education Teacher. This position is responsible for helping students achieve academic success and supporting the mission, vision and values of SBCA.
SBCA is unique in that it is multi-denominational and not associated with a single church. Instead, SBCA is a community-based Christian academy that serves our local community by collaborating with churches, community members, and parents to graduate students who are both academically and spiritually prepared to succeed and become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
Professional Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree preferred
Position Duties
- Employ a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels in the classroom.
- Prepare motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum and student abilities.
- Update curriculum and materials as needed.
- Seek to actively know students' strengths and weaknesses and respond promptly with care to parent concerns.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Maintain an accurate and organized system for monitoring student grades and records.
- Prepare thorough parent-teacher conference reports and written documentation on student progress.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
- Maintain substitute plans and engage substitutes in advance when needed.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, grow, and improve as a teacher.
- Continue to update knowledge of content area(s) taught.
- Engage in goal setting and review process with assigned administrator.
- Attend and participate appropriately in full, divisional, and department/team faculty meetings.
- Attend and support school events as requested.
- Support leadership and colleagues.
- Maintain a positive attitude and approach.
- Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner.
- Assist with projects and school-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by an administrator.
