Job Summary
The Paratransit and Bus Dispatcher/Scheduler is responsible for coordinating daily transportation services, scheduling passenger trips, assigning routes, and ensuring drivers begin service on time. This position serves as a communication link between drivers, passengers, and management to provide safe, efficient, and reliable transportation operations.
Duties
- Schedule and coordinate daily paratransit and fixed-route bus trips.
- Assign drivers and vehicles based on route requirements, passenger needs, and vehicle availability.
- Review and optimize routes for efficiency and on-time performance.
- Dispatch drivers at the start of each shift and ensure all routes are covered.
- Communicate route changes, delays, and service updates to drivers and passengers.
- Monitor vehicle locations and driver performance throughout the day.
- Respond to service disruptions, emergencies, and scheduling conflicts.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, driver assignments, vehicle usage, and passenger information.
- Ensure compliance with ADA regulations, company policies, and transportation safety standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff regarding vehicle availability and service issues.
- Provide excellent customer service when assisting passengers with transportation requests.

- Conduct driver check-ins and communicate any route updates.
- Ensure all drivers depart on time and have the information needed to begin service.
- Monitor startup operations and address any last-minute scheduling issues.
