In our service area, many children arrive at school without the basic resources needed to thrive. They often lack books at home, essential clothing, hygiene items, and access to nutritious food over weekends when school meals are unavailable. This situation contributes to educational disparities, making it difficult for these children to perform well in school and fully engage in their learning. Additionally, insufficient nutrition and good hygiene can cause a range of health problems, including weakened immune function, stunted growth in children, and an increased risk of chronic diseases. Moreover, hunger can negatively impact mood and cognitive function, leading to issues like anxiety and depression. Ready. Set. GO! fills those gaps by working with local schools to distribute weekly weekend food bags and clothing and hygiene items.
