Job Title: Safety & Security Officer

Salary: $17.00-$20.00/hour commensurate with experience
Job Summary
As a Security and Safety Officer at Georgia Safari Conservation Park, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of both guests and staff at our Park. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain a safe and secure environment while upholding park policies and protocols, including those related to animal welfare. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities**The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Security Patrol:
· Conduct regular patrols of the Park grounds to deter and detect unauthorized access or suspicious activities.
· Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to maintain a high level of situational awareness.
· Observe and report violations of local, state, and federal laws to supervisors and cooperate with local law enforcement in providing appropriate information to assist in emergency and security responses.
· Observe and report to supervisors any guest or staff violations of Park policies.
· Ensure proper use and care of department equipment; operate and maintain equipment and vehicles by following established policies and procedures.
· Safeguard company assets, property, equipment, and facilities against illegal and destructive acts.
· Performs all duties by established policies and procedures.
· Complete detailed reports of all incidents or concerns.
Emergency Response:
· Participate in drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of emergency protocols and ensure readiness.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency services and law enforcement agencies during critical incidents that occur during your shift.
· Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, inclement weather situations and security breaches.
· Provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies until professional help arrives.
First Aid and Safety:
· Ensure that the Park’s first aid kits are adequately stocked and maintained.
· Render First Aid as needed.
· Collaborate with medical professionals to provide timely and effective medical assis-tance to visitors and staff in need.
· Be certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED or be willing to obtain certification.
Access Control, Technology, and Infrastructure:
· Monitor and control access points to the safari park, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter designated areas.
· Verify identification and credentials as needed.
· Monitor Cameras and alarms.
· Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
· Previous security /law enforcement or military experience preferred.
· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
· College Degree preferred.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment- indoor and outside in various climates.
· Ability to physically intervene or restrain persons acting in a disruptive or disorderly manner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Can thrive under pressure in fast-paced, deadline driven, and constantly changing environment with evolving project needs.
- Can calmly navigate thru many personalities and individual priorities and appear as the voice of reason throughout project.
- Able to communicate effectively orally with co-workers and guests.
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a post-offer background check, including criminal and driving records.
- Employees will be employed for a ninety (90) day probationary period.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or walk for long periods of time, ability to climb stairs, bend, and stoop during the execution of duties. The employee is required to operate in a sedentary fixed post position for long periods and/or entire shifts in all weather conditions.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule
The Park operates seven (7) days a week and will require flexibility of scheduling employees.

About Georgia Safari Conservation Park
Georgia Safari Conservation Park is a master-planned zoological park being developed on 530 acres in rural Morgan County, Georgia, just one hour east of Atlanta. Phase I opened in June of 2024. Our mission is to inspire in others a greater understanding, appreciation, and connection to the natural world. When fully developed, our park will bring three attractions together on one site: a guided African game drive, a 100-acre traditional walk-through exhibit area, and luxurious overnight Lodging.
