Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced OSP Designer III to join our Utility Design Engineering team! The UDE team works with industry leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services.
Our telecommunications design professionals have years of experience working in the fiber optic, coax and copper construction field preparing for outside (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) installations. As leaders within the industry, we work with communities on broadband deficit solutions, deploying fiber to upgrade aging technology to 5G, and addressing utility relocations. Our design services include fiber-to-tower, Enterprise, FTTH, oDAS and iDAS, and distributed architecture.

Work directly with clients to understand requirements, design theory, and software systems.

Lead a team of designers and introduce new ideas and workflows.

Reverse engineer theory and validate documentation against client examples.

Design training documentation and provide training as client workflows evolve.

Manage OSP I and OSP II staff for specific projects as needed.

Assist with contract review, quality control (QC), and approvals as requested by the Senior Designer.

Maintain project QAQC checklist and reference documentation.

Understand design constraints from natural resources review, environmental, SHPO, and NEPA considerations.

Exhibit advanced understanding of Telecom, Fiber – OSP design (FTTX, MDU, wiring diagrams, splicing schematics, equipment types) and design FTTX networks, including complex route and modification designs.

Supervise up to two entry-level direct reports.

5+ years of experience in linear utility engineering and design required; experience in fiber-optic/coaxial OSP experience preferred.

Associates degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering or completion of a technical degree program required.

Advanced linear and fiber design consulting experience required.

Ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.

Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff.

Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $35.77 to $49.81 per hour (depending on qualifications)
