Job Description
We are hiring Experienced Sushi Chefs and Sushi Roll & Prep Assistants (entry-level OK) for a busy Japanese restaurant located between Owings Mills (21117) and Pikesville (21208), Maryland.
This is a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment, requiring speed, consistency, and teamwork during peak service.
We are looking for long-term, reliable team members who are hardworking, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
IMPORTANT (PLEASE READ)
Sushi Chef position requires prior sushi experience
Assistant position is open to entry-level candidates (training provided)
Assistants are required to help with prep work + sushi rolling (basic rolls included)
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen
No short-term or temporary applicants
Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Sushi Chef (Experienced Only)
Prepare sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty rolls
Maintain speed, consistency, and presentation during busy hours
Run sushi station independently
Maintain food quality and portion control
Sushi Roll & Prep Assistant (Entry-Level OK)
Assist with food prep (cutting, washing, portioning ingredients)
Help prepare and roll sushi (basic rolls and simple rolls)
Prepare rice, sauces, and basic sushi ingredients
Assist sushi chef during peak service
Learn sushi production workflow and improve skills over time
General Duties (All Positions)
Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
Follow food safety and hygiene standards
Work efficiently during peak hours
Communicate effectively with kitchen team
Requirements
Sushi Chef
Prior sushi or Japanese kitchen experience required
Strong knife skills
Ability to work in high-volume kitchen environment
Assistant
No experience required (training provided)
Willing to learn and work with hands (prep + rolling)
Good attitude and reliability
Fast learner preferred
Both Positions
Must be available Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
Weekend availability required
Team-oriented and dependable
Compensation
Pay: $15.00 – $30.00/hour (based on experience and role)
