The Environmental Services (EVS) Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a drug and alcohol treatment facility. This role supports infection control, client safety, and overall facility operations in a setting serving individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.

Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, offices, bathrooms, and clinical spaces

Disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with infection control standards

Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, group rooms, and treatment spaces

Follow established protocols for handling biohazard materials and bodily fluids

Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and Vermont health and safety guidelines

Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and supplies

Support infection prevention practices critical in healthcare environments

Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA when working around client information

Collect, transport, and dispose of regular, recyclable, and medical waste

Handle hazardous waste in accordance with facility policies

Restock supplies (paper goods, soap, PPE, etc.) throughout the facility

Report maintenance or safety issues (e.g., spills, hazards, damaged equipment)

Assist with room turnovers and preparation for new admissions

Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to minimize disruption to patient care

Support overall facility operations and special cleaning needs as required

High school diploma or GED preferred

Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or EVS experience (healthcare or residential settings preferred)

Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines

Experience in hospitals, behavioral health, or substance use treatment facilities

Familiarity with infection control practices and cleaning standards in healthcare settings

Knowledge of safe chemical handling and PPE use
