About the Company & Position
We focus on ductless mini-split installations in older Twin Cities homes — the kind with boiler heat, plaster walls, and no path to central AC.
Every job is the same type of work: a residential ductless install, usually in an old home. You won't be dispatched across three different job types in a day or handed a service call on equipment you've never seen. The work is specialized, and the expectation is that you are or become an expert at it. We're a new company and this is our first installer hire.
Minneapolis or St. Paul refrigerant comp card is a requirement for this position.
If that sounds like a fit, read on.
What the Work Looks Like
- Residential ductless mini-split installations — single and multi-zone systems
- Jobs in older urban neighborhoods: Longfellow, Nokomis, Northeast Minneapolis, Mac-Groveland, Highland Park, Como, St. Anthony Park
- Homes built 1900–1970: plaster walls, brick exteriors, older electrical, tight attic spaces
- Customer-facing role — you represent the company at every install
- You pull permits, coordinate inspections, document each job with photos
What We're Looking For
- Minneapolis or St. Paul Refrigeration Installer comp card (master preferred — journeyman considered)
- EPA 608 Universal certification — required
- 5+ years residential HVAC with meaningful ductless/mini-split experience
- Comfortable working in older construction: plaster walls, brick exteriors, unfinished basements
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
- Self-directed — you run a job site from start to finish
- Professional and personable with homeowners
Compensation and How the Hours Work
This role starts part-time and ramps to full-time. We're asking you to keep your current job while volume builds up. We're not asking you to take a financial risk on us.
Hour ramp:
- Months 1 & 2: 8–10 hrs/week guaranteed minimum (~$1,800/month)
- Month 3: 20 hrs/week target (~$3,700/month)
- Month 4+: Determined by volume; full-time transition once it's there
Those are minimums — we expect to exceed them. If volume doesn't materialize the way we're projecting, we'll communicate that directly.
Compensation:
- W-2 employment
- Base: $38–46/hr depending on experience
- Job completion bonus: $75–150 per clean job with no callbacks within 30 days
- Review bonus: $100 per verified 5-star Google review that names you
- Vehicle and tools provided or negotiated
What We're Asking
- Keep your current job — work our jobs on evenings or weekends as they come in
- Be available for at least one full install day per week starting in month 1
- Commit to full-time by month 4 when volume justifies it
Why This Role
You'd be the lead installer at a specialty shop, not one of several technicians at a large company. Every job is a ductless install in an older residential home, the kind of work where experience in the specific construction type matters and where a good installer can build a real reputation.
You'd have a direct relationship with ownership. Your feedback on what's working in the field shapes how we operate. Performance bonuses are tied to work quality, clean installs and happy customers, not job count.
When the business hits its stride, we'll have a formal conversation about equity participation before the end of year one.
To Apply
Send a brief message describing your ductless install experience — how many systems per year, the brands you've worked with, and the kinds of homes you've installed in. Attach a resume if you have one, but a straightforward message works fine too.
We respond to every application within 24 hours. Happy to talk through the role before you apply if you have questions, just send us a message.
