GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the timely preparation of meals as well as providing assistance in any area of the kitchen to assure smooth and efficient operation. Serve as relief cook and in rotation with others as needed.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Preparation of meals for up to 900 homebound and community meal program clients.
DUTIES:
1. Assure that quality meals are prepared in sufficient quantities and in a timely manner to assure delivery.
2. Make necessary food preparation for the following day’s needs.
3. Follow recipes for preparation of meals, ensuring overages are limited.
4. Assist on the tray line.
5. Clean all equipment used.
6. Assure proper storage of any leftover food; following health department regulations for cooling, labeling, and dating of food.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Maintenance of logs and recordings.
DUTIES:
1. Keep daily records of food usage, temperatures, and substitutions.
2. Provide input to the Kitchen Manager regarding food needs or problems.
3. Record temperatures of equipment such as freezer, refrigerator, and warmers.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: General cleaning/stocking
DUTIES:
1. Provide assistance with dishes as requested.
2. Complete cleaning assignments; such as sweeping/mopping, wiping down prep areas, and cleaning ovens and warmers.
3. Assist with stocking of deliveries in proper locations, and maintain areas to allow for proper storage and access to products.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to assist in the preparation of meals following a written menu. Knowledge of cleaning materials and cooking equipment. Weekday schedule requires early morning start time and flexibility to work Saturday mornings on a rotating basis. Ability to perform physical functions of the job, including standing for extended periods of time, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made as necessary.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in large quantity cooking. Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation practices of a licensed kitchen.
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
