Position Overview
One Care Group is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Medical Biller to join our growing healthcare consulting and revenue cycle team. This role is responsible for accurate and timely claim submission, payment-posting support, accounts receivable follow-up, denial resolution, and payer communication for our contracted healthcare clients.
The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing preferably behavioral health and understands the importance of clean claims, timely follow-up, payer requirements, authorization awareness, and HIPAA-compliant handling of protected health information. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, solution-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient demographic, insurance, authorization, and charge information for accuracy prior to claim submission
- Prepare, submit, and monitor electronic and paper claims to commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and other third-party payers as applicable
- Identify, correct, and resubmit rejected or denied claims in a timely manner
- Perform consistent accounts receivable follow-up within established billing-cycle timeframes
- Research payer denials, underpayments, recoupments, and claim discrepancies; submit appeals and supporting documentation when needed
- Verify claim status through payer portals, clearinghouses, and direct payer communication
- Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity, follow-up efforts, payer correspondence, and claim outcomes
- Assist with payment posting review, reconciliation, and identification of billing trends or recurring errors
- Communicate professionally with providers, practice staff, insurance representatives, and patients regarding billing-related matters
- Support credentialing, payer enrollment, authorization, and eligibility workflows when needed
- Follow all HIPAA, payer, client, and company policies related to privacy, compliance, and revenue cycle operations
- Participate in team meetings, workflow updates, process improvement efforts, and ongoing training
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of hands-on medical billing experience
- Experience billing for medical and/or behavioral health services required
- Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, claim forms, and medical terminology
- Experience with claims submission, denials, appeals, insurance verification, eligibility, and accounts receivable follow-up
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, managed-care plans, and payer portals
- Experience using EHR, EMR, practice-management, clearinghouse, or medical billing software
- Strong knowledge of billing-cycle workflows and timely filing requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting productivity and follow-up expectations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential patient and client information in accordance with HIPAA requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Behavioral health billing experience, including therapy, psychiatric, substance-use, or integrated-care services
- Experience with Arizona Medicaid/AHCCCS plans, authorizations, or managed-care billing
- Experience with credentialing, payer enrollment, revalidation, or provider roster management
- Knowledge of electronic remittance advice (ERA), explanation of benefits (EOB), payment posting, and reconciliation
- Certification such as CPB, CPC, CBCS, or equivalent billing/coding credential
