Job Summary
Under general supervision, supports patient meal service operations by preparing, assembling, delivering, and cleaning food service equipment and areas.
Ensures efficient tray line operations while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service.

Prepare, assemble, and deliver patient meal trays according to established procedures

Work assigned tray line/POD positions, including hot server, builder, and checker

Set up tray line workstations with utensils, containers, and supplies for meal service

Monitor food quality and temperatures; report issues to appropriate staff
-
Deliver food carts and trays to patient units; retrieve and transport after meal service

Deliver meals to various departments as needed (e.g., Emergency Department, Blood Bank)

Operate in dish room and truck room areas, including loading/unloading dish machines and organizing soiled trays and dishes

Clean, sanitize, and maintain food trucks, tray line areas, equipment, refrigerators, and workstations

Restock supplies and break down stations after meal service

Sweep, mop, and remove trash to maintain a clean and safe work environment

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission guidelines

Maintain patient confidentiality and provide excellent customer service

Knowledge of food service operations, including line set-up and temperature requirements

Knowledge of food preparation techniques, presentation standards, and quality control

Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use sanitation supplies

Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions with attention to detail

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively

Ability to understand and adhere to safety and sanitation procedures

Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy items as needed

Basic knowledge of inventory control and ordering of supplies and equipment

Skill in preparing and cooking a variety of food items in a fast-paced environment
