Ramp Agent
Alaska Air Transit is hiring a full-time and part-time Ramp Agent for our Merrill Field, Anchorage, location. The Ramp Agent Role is a fast paced, detail-oriented position, that requires an emphasis on safety in handling aircraft and customer materials. This position is based on efficient and safe operations to ensure flights are completed on time with satisfied customers.
Ramp Agent Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds, regularly.
- Previous Forklift, Aircraft Tug, or equipment operation experience.
- To be flexible, curious, hard-working, capable of self-starting, multi-tasking, and prioritizing, and be able to thrive as part of a supportive team in a challenging, dynamic environment.
Ramp Agent is Responsible for:
- Servicing aircraft including fueling, de-icing, cleaning, and washing planes.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the ramp and hangar.
- Coordinating with the Freight Agents to manage freight flow onto scheduled flights.
- Loading and unloading aircraft safely and efficiently.
- Frequent use of Forklift with a high level of accuracy to ensure safe movement of outsized items around and into facility and aircraft.
- Frequent use of electric aircraft tug to move aircraft in a safely and efficiently.
- Daily equipment checks for all ramp equipment.
- Understanding and advocating for customer and operational needs to Pilots and Management.
- Familiarization with the loading capacity of each aircraft to best serve the customer and achieve maximum load efficiency.
- Monitor and communicate aircraft status while on the ramp.
- Practicing safe lifting and body mechanics to maintain the health of all team members.
- Performing light custodial and housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean environment for customers.
- Maintaining the company lot, including controlling keys of client vehicles and moving cars as necessary for supporting operations.

- To be immersed in the culture of Alaskan aviation and work with highly experienced pilots, a stellar team of flight operations, maintenance, and customer service agents, many of whom are aspiring pilots.
- To learn more about rural Alaska and its communities, as well as the many companies that conduct business in remote locations.
- To get to know many of our customers and clients on a personal basis.
