Job Overview
iDEAL Semiconductor is looking for a Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) experience to play a crucial role in identifying and analyzing the causes of device failures. Experience in failure analysis of semiconductor devices (ICs, MOSFETs, and diodes) in both wafer and packaged forms is a big advantage.
Duties
- Conduct detailed failure analyses using SEM/EDS and other analytical tools to determine the root cause of product failures, including internal design verification/debug, customer returns, and qualification/evaluation failures.
Failure analysis activities include:
- Electrical test verification and characterization of failures using ATE or Curve Tracer
- Failure isolation using liquid crystal and IR/TR (LIT)
- Packaging construction analysis and die-level node probing,
- Topside and backside decapsulation,
- Layer-by-layer removal using wet and dry etching (chemical etch, Ion mill, polishing)
- Use of analytical techniques such as EDS and SEM techniques
- Generate high-quality Failure Analysis Reports that incorporate images and clearly communicate the analysis steps taken. The report should effectively explain how the failure mechanism found relates to the product's electrical failing mode.
- Collaborate with different engineers for the FA steps and analysis results.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics or Material science or equivalent experience in semiconductor or failure analysis equipment.
- At least 6 months hands on experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), preferably Hitachi SEM Equipment.
- Experience on FA techniques like Microscopy, Mechanical/Chemical De-processing, Cross-Sectioning, and various material analysis techniques, is a plus.
- Salary will be offered based on experience and skill.
