Opportunity
New England Lab is seeking a Revit - Drafter for our Woburn, MA office. Our team plays a key role in each project and overall company success. In this position there is a focus on detail, consistency, and precision in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong A/E/C commercial background and hands-on Revit experience within a specialty subcontracting or contracting environment. This is a full-time, hourly position reporting to the Drafting Manager. Our core business hours are 8am – 5pm M-F, with opportunity and expectation of overtime.
Role
New England Lab is seeking a Revit – Drafter with commercial A/E/C experience. You will be responsible for developing floor plans, elevations, sections, and details of laboratory casework and furniture systems using Revit. Drafters work closely with other departments, particularly Project Managers (PM’s) – to ensure accurate drawings, as well as Estimating – to determine customer requirements and scope of work. Experience with BIM coordination in a lab furniture or specialty subcontracting environment is highly valued. You are responsible for the following:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare thorough floor plans, elevations, sections and details of casework, countertops and lab furniture system layouts using Revit for client approval and fabrication
- Develop and maintain Revit families, templates, and content libraries specific to laboratory casework and furniture systems
- Work with an existing team to coordinate drawings and provide quality design work to client’s specifications
- Assist PM’s with changes and additions to drawings as needed
- Work with various vendors in determining the correct product to be used on a project
- Develop and help train new employees; mentor junior drafters on Revit workflows and A/E/C standards as applicable
- Document, organize and maintain project information
- Follow drafting schedule and adapt to changes promptly
- Ensure project scope is being met in line with the estimated price
- Proactively communicate product or schedule concerns with other departments
Skills & Requirements
- Technical Diploma or Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s preferred
- 3+ years of professional experience using Revit to produce detailed models, shop drawings, architectural drawings, or specialty fabrication drawings in a commercial A/E/C environment
- Strong scheduling skills for managing project schedules
- Experience working for or with an A/E/C specialty subcontractor; laboratory furniture, casework, or millwork experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Revit families, content creation, and model coordination; familiarity with BIM standards and workflows
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Keen eye for detail and ability to visualize and understand 3-D dimensions
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, Revit MEP or structural modules, and SketchUp or other 3D visualization tools is considered a plus
- Leadership, mentoring, or training experience a plus
- Ability to communicate professionally via phone and email with internal and external clients
- Ability to multitask amidst local distractions
- Ability to work in a team environment and receive constructive feedback
- Experience with cabinetry/millwork, lab furniture, or commercial construction a plus
