American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and strong telemetry/cardiac skills.

25-bed General Medicine PCU specializing in the care of acutely and chronically ill adults with complex medical diagnoses
-
Patient population includes a wide range of complex medical conditions managed by Internal Medicine Physicians and Residents
-
Patient ratio is 1:4–5 (goal 4:1, commonly 5:1)
-
Telemetry is remotely monitored with monitors remaining on the unit; tele-sitting is used for additional Patient Care Tech support
-
Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block

Floating required within skillset to other PCUs and potentially Med/Surg units
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
-
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
-
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response and Code team protocols, and administration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, Lasix) without titration

Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care

Competency in chest tube management, trach care, and PICC line management
-
Proficiency in respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management

Epic EMR experience required

Two professional references required for consideration
