American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in a corrections-based oncology unit, requiring Epic experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Hospital-based corrections unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates in a locked, access-controlled environment

Unit functions as both a PCU and Medical-Surgical Telemetry floor, with shift assignments rotating between the two
-
Oncology patient population including active oncology diagnoses and treatments (solid tumors and hematology), oncology workup admissions, and non-oncology diagnoses
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 on PCU and 1:4–5 on MS

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

Weekend shift requirements vary based on unit needs

Floating to various oncology medical-surgical units is required

Epic is used for documentation; experience is required

Pyxis is used for medication management

On-call responsibilities: not specified

Active OH RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration

Current BLS certification required

Epic EMR experience required

Med/Surg Telemetry experience required, including telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation

Oncology experience preferred but not required

Proficiency with a broad clinical skill set including: IV therapy, blood product administration, central/PICC line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), PCA management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; no coworker references accepted

Unit is a secure, locked corrections facility with access controlled by Corrections Officers; staff safety protocols are in place
-
Shift scheduling (days, nights, or a combination) is reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental staffing needs
-
Candidates must complete Ohio state fingerprinting as soon as possible after accepting an offer; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently

Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and built into the contract, with a maximum of 7 days

Former employees of the facility are eligible to apply once they have been away for 6 months or more
