Job Summary
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Athens, OH. As the Workforce Development Coordinator, you will lead the planning, coordination, and evaluation of workforce development programs at ACEnet to support sustainable employment pathways for marginalized community members.
You will oversee program implementation, participant placement, and workforce training initiatives while ensuring alignment with employer needs and organizational goals. Daily responsibilities include coordinating training programs, conducting workforce-related research, collaborating with regional partners, and developing strategies to strengthen local workforce capacity. This role also involves supporting job seekers, guiding them through training and placement processes. Additionally, this role supports grant-funded workforce programs, data reporting, and communication of program outcomes to stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
Program Development & Implementation
- Assist in the development and delivery of a variety of workshops and webinars, including creation of curriculum materials
- Deliver workforce development trainings and modules to program recipients; including resume building workshops, soft skill training, and connecting program recipients to additional thirdparty training when needed
- Facilitate creation of Recovery-Friendly Workplaces among ACEnet clients and community businesses
- Work with partners to develop workshop schedules, webinars & training promotions
- Work with Director of Programs in researching & applying for varied funding opportunities
- Identify funding resources that ACEnet client employers could access to decrease barriers to employment for marginalized community members
- Facilitate regular one-on-one check-ins with worksite supervisors and point of contact staff from partner organizations
- Communicate directly with ACEnet affiliated businesses that work with program recipients and coordinate day-to-day program operations
- Act as a supervisor for all program recipients
Communications & Outreach
- Responsible for articulating projects to community and providing updates through multiple platforms including social media and creating blog posts for ACEnet website
- Act as the primary liaison with the Area 14 Workforce Development Board, Athens County Reentry Task Force, various agencies, educational workforce partners, non-profits and grass roots community organizations
- Convene workforce development committee of employers who perform workforce development services within their business
- Convene industry representative groups to uncover gaps in the existing workforce supply
- Interface with youth and young adult workforce development organizations within the region
- Develop cross promotion activities for workshops, webinars and training promotions
Targeted Populations
- Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Impacted Community Members
- Justice Impacted Community Members
- Survivors of Power Based Personal Violence
- Food sector employers: Food producers/processors/manufacturers with focus on ACEnet tenants and Southeastern Ohio businesses
- Adjacent sector employers: Tourism, food retail & foodservice operators, hospitality and accommodations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience planning and facilitating meetings, workshops and webinars
- Experience creating workshop and webinar curriculum materials
- Detail oriented and consistent follow-through with minimal supervision
- Able to work on multiple projects at once
- Experience working in community-focused roles or in the Appalachian region is a plus
Minimum Qualifications
- Two-year college degree or equivalent from a combination of formal education and relevant experience, preferably in Social Services
- Ability to work at a computer and experience with all MS Office programs, social media platforms and database management
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle with willingness to travel regionally for projects
- Patience, flexibility, cross-cultural competency
