Primary Responsibilities

- Water distribution system monitoring and maintenance
- Water treatment plant operation and required testing
- Skilled labor, general labor, and other duties related to the operation and maintenance of the electric and water utilities
- Electric generation
Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond to utility emergencies as needed
- Experience in electric utilities, water systems, or public works is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

For this position, the Essential Functions could include:
- Perform electric distribution line construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Install, inspect, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electric utility systems.
- Monitor, operate, and maintain the municipal water distribution system.
- Assist with the operation, testing, and maintenance of the water treatment plant to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Read, install, repair, and replace electric and water meters as needed.
- Respond to electric and water service outages, emergencies, and customer service requests, including after-hours call-outs.
- Operate and maintain utility equipment, vehicles, tools, and machinery.
- Perform routine inspections of utility infrastructure and report or correct deficiencies.
- Complete required operational records, maintenance logs, testing documentation, and regulatory reports.
- Perform locates for underground utilities as required.
- Maintain safe work practices and comply with all OSHA, Iowa OSHA, and utility safety regulations.
- Assist with vegetation management, grounds maintenance, and upkeep of utility facilities.
- Perform general labor duties, including lifting, digging, trenching, and equipment operation.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime as required during emergencies or utility outages.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, coworkers, and the public.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operation of the municipal electric and water utilities.
Compensation will be based on experience.
