LOCATION: Adult Education Program - Multiple Locations
SCHEDULE: Flexible AM/PM schedule @ 3 hours per class, up to 4 classes per day

BASIC FUNCTION:
To instruct foreign language learners the skills to improve their English language proficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To instruct students (16 years and older) within a small group classroom setting.
- Provide students with the requisite skills to improve their English language (i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening) proficiency.
- Instructors are expected to complete lesson plans, monthly reports, and other duties as assigned.
- Implement consistent data collection procedures, check data accuracy, establish follow-up strategies, and follow assessment procedures.
- Valid NYS teacher certification or be able to meet requirements for the Adult Education certificate. Requirements for the certificate are listed on the homepage of the NYS Education Department Teaching Certification under “Certification Requirements” in the category of “Other School Service–English Language Learning Instructor” http://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/CertRequirementHelp.do
- Experience working with ESL population.
- Must possess good written and verbal skills.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the ASISTS Data Management System desirable.
The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
