Job Summary: This role is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and maintaining integrated electronic security and low-voltage systems. This position works directly with customers to diagnose system issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure systems operate reliably and efficiently. The specialist provides technical expertise for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related integrated systems while delivering a high level of customer service.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical troubleshooting skills, can work independently in the field, and can communicate effectively with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams. This role supports service contracts, emergency service calls, inspections, system upgrades, and customer training while ensuring compliance with company safety and quality standards. The position supports installation teams. Responsibilities also include providing technical input for design, estimating, and training, maintaining software backups, supporting existing systems to ensure code compliance and efficient operation, and assisting with documentation such as as‑built drawings and O&M manuals. The role collaborates with operations, service, and sales teams, participates in project turnover, completes required documentation, and is available for on‑call emergency service support as part of a rotating schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic security systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections.
- Program, configure, and commission security and integrated building systems.
- Respond to service calls and resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
- Document service activities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Provide technical support and training to customers.
- Coordinate with Service Coordinators, Project Managers, and Operations teams.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and service documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies and industry standards.
- Support installation personnel on project sites.
- Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
- Troubleshoot installation issues during both the startup, commissioning, and servicing of building special systems.
- Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
- Ensure timely software backups are created for projects, service and software development.
- Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
- Provide service support on existing systems insuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility's building engineers.
- Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
- Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
- Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
- Willing and able to be on call for 24-hour emergency service response.
- Participate in an on‑call support rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- 5 years of experience in installing and servicing security solutions.
- Proficiency in computer operating systems, including the MS Office Suite of products.
- Experience with access control, CCTV, intrusion, and integrated security platforms.
- Knowledge of systems such as Genetec, LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Bosch, or similar platforms.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes.
- Competence in troubleshooting basic electrical and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
- Understanding of AC power circuitry, including breakers and multi-phase power systems (120VAC and greater).
- Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to empathize with others' issues and perceptions and to creatively and effectively work through these issues to achieve successful outcomes and ensure customer and employee satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree in related studies.
- At least 5 years of experience in installing and servicing security solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Lenel or Lenel Certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Genetec or Genetec Certification.
- Avigilon Certification.
- Strong networking and IP-based systems knowledge.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet)

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, may be required to travel to and from job site locations, may work in a typical office environment, and is occasionally exposed to construction equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Confined space entry may be required. High work may be required.
