American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a teaching hospital, requiring an IN or compact RN license and circulating experience across multiple surgical specialties.

Work in the Operating Room department of an academic health center and teaching hospital
-
Unit supports high acuity and complex cancer-related surgical care with 24 beds and an average census of 70-80
-
Circulate cases across General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection procedures

Uses DaVinci XI robotic surgical system

Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, Monday-Friday 7:00-17:30

Call requirement of 40-60 hours within a 6-week schedule

Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Charting completed in Cerner
-
Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start

Current BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)

Minimum 2 years of OR circulating experience within the last 3 years across listed specialties required

Teaching hospital experience required
-
Cerner charting experience required
-
Charge nurse experience preferred
-
Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Circulate a wide range of surgical cases including General, GYN, Plastics, Vascular, Orthopedic, Endoscopic, Robotics, Urology, and ENT procedures

Perform professional duties such as blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures

Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

RTO requests of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; anything more requires facility approval

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates (IN residents) are accepted at a lower pay package for this position

Any prior Perm or PRN employee of the health system must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler

Current or past travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
