Aging Matters in Brevard is seeking a Lead Home Improvement Worker to oversee field operations for our Seniors Assistance Program. In this role, you'll lead a team dedicated to helping older adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes through essential home repairs and accessibility improvements.
This position combines hands-on field leadership with program coordination (Building of Safety Walking ramps, installation of safety grab bars, minor home repairs, etc), making it ideal for someone who enjoys both working in the field and managing projects from start to finish.
Position Overview
The Lead Home Improvement Worker manages the daily operation of the Home Improvement Program while serving as the field leader for Home Improvement Workers.
Approximately 80% of the position is spent in the field, coordinating projects, meeting with clients, preparing estimates, and supporting staff.
The remaining 20% involves administrative leadership, including scheduling support, reporting, quality assurance, inventory management, and employee coaching.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring seniors receive safe, timely, and high-quality home improvement services.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate daily work assignments with the Home Improvement Scheduler
- Prepare client estimates and work orders
- Perform site visits and evaluate requested repairs
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to agency standards
- Monitor work quality and provide guidance to field staff
- Respond to field issues and resolve operational challenges
Supervise & Develop Staff (as crew growth is needed)
· Lead, coach, mentor, and train Home Improvement Workers
· Participate in interviewing and hiring new employees
· Conduct orientation and on-the-job training
· Assist with performance evaluations and employee development
· Conduct regular staff meetings and safety training
· Promote teamwork, accountability, and exceptional customer service
Coordinate Client Services
- Conduct intake interviews with prospective clients
- Assess service needs and determine program eligibility
- Respond professionally to client questions and concerns
- Resolve complaints quickly while maintaining excellent customer service
- Maintain positive relationships with seniors, caregivers, and community partners
Manage Program Operations
· Review completed work orders for quality and accuracy
· Verify payments and reconcile program documentation
· Monitor employee attendance and productivity
· Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
· Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and grant documentation
· Prepare reports for Department of Elder Affairs and Senior Resource Alliance compliance
Improve Program Performance

Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred)
- Minimum three years of residential home improvement or construction experience
- Minimum two years of supervisory or crew leadership experience
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to successfully pass:
- Criminal Background Screening
- Motor Vehicle Record Review
- Drug Screening
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Residential remodeling
- Home accessibility modifications
- Aging-in-place renovations
- Facilities maintenance
- Construction project management
- Nonprofit or community service programs
- Working with older adults or individuals with disabilities

Regular travel throughout Brevard County is required.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in varying weather conditions
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds
- Safely inspect residential properties
- Perform occasional hands-on repair work when needed
