Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will be crucial in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires the individual to have a strong accounting background, be detailed and deadline-oriented, and be capable of operating in a changing environment. Position is located in our Lafayette, CA. corporate office and is fully on-site Monday through Friday – no remote or hybrid.
Duties
· Review, verify, and process vendor invoices.
· Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation.
· Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments.
· Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
· Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries.
· Maintain accurate vendor records and W-9 documentation.
· Maintain property tax records, monitor tax due dates, prepare payment requests, and coordinate with county tax authorities to ensure timely and accurate property tax payments.
- Executes accounting responsibilities professionally following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Code invoices, reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, and verifies deposits.
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Assist both internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
· Assist with audits by providing documentation, preparing schedules and narratives.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Demonstrate understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with NetSuite and Bill.com
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of internal and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time, and multi-task with limited supervision, sometimes under time pressure.
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a team player willing to lend a hand within the accounting team or the company at large.
