Assistant Maintenance / Make-Ready Technician
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly; Overtime Eligible) Schedule: 40 hours/week; weekend and on-call availability as needed
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Maintenance / Make-Ready Technician to help maintain our apartment community and prepare vacant apartment homes for new residents. This role is responsible for completing service requests, assisting with general maintenance, and ensuring apartments are move-in ready while supporting the Lead Service Technician and Property Manager.
Responsibilities
- Complete resident service requests in a timely manner, with a goal of resolving requests within 24 hours whenever possible
- Prepare vacant apartments for new residents by completing make-ready tasks
- Perform minor repairs, including drywall patching, caulking, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work
- Replace light bulbs, air filters, batteries, electrical cover plates, and other basic fixtures
- Inspect and test appliances to ensure they are functioning properly
- Assist with repairs involving HVAC systems, appliances, doors, windows, locks, lighting, ceilings, fencing, railings, and other property features
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment
- Report maintenance concerns, supply needs, and safety hazards to management
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with additional maintenance, make-ready, and property improvement projects as assigned
Qualifications
- At least one year of apartment maintenance, make-ready, or general maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair
- Ability to work independently, follow directions, and prioritize tasks
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- EPA Certification (Type I, II, or Universal) is a plus but not required
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds (with assistance for heavier items), bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, push, pull, reach overhead, and safely operate hand tools, ladders, cleaning equipment, and maintenance tools while working indoors and outdoors.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
