Title: Project Designer
Location: Westmont, IL
Job Summary: The Project Designer is responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining AutoCAD and Revit drawings for precast concrete projects. This role supports engineering and project teams by preparing accurate production drawings, coordinating embed plates and loose materials, and assisting with the timely resolution of casting and field issues. The Project Designer plays a key role in ensuring drawing accuracy, workflow efficiency, and on-time production releases.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Prepare precast concrete project drawings under the direction of Project Coordinators and Engineering staff.
- Produce precast piece drawings at least two days prior to scheduled production.
- Update and revise AutoCAD and Revit drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide drafting and administrative support to Engineering and Project Management teams.
- Coordinate and order embed plates, loose materials, and related components to support fabrication and production schedules.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and production personnel to resolve casting and field issues.
- Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
- Support timely drawing releases to maintain production and erection schedules.
- Maintain organized project documentation and drawing revisions.
- Assist with additional design, drafting, and project support duties as assigned.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Three to five years of experience in drafting, design, engineering support, or construction drawing preparation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related design discipline preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit required.
- Experience with precast concrete systems, structural drawings, or construction documentation preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling of drawings, plans, and office materials.
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, crawling, and lifting or moving materials weighing 10–40 pounds.
- Ability to concentrate on detailed drafting work while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, production personnel, and customers.
- May require operation of computers, drafting software, office equipment, and other tools associated with the position.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
- Collaborative work setting with Engineering, Project Management, and Production teams.
- Frequent computer use while preparing and revising technical drawings.
- Occasional visits to production areas or project sites may be required to support design coordination.
- Standard business hours with flexibility to meet project deadlines.
