Description
The EIT - Land Development will support the planning, design, permitting, and construction of a variety of public and private land development projects throughout Central Texas. Working under the direction of Project Managers and Professional Engineers, this role is responsible for preparing engineering designs, construction plans, technical reports, calculations, permit applications, and supporting project documentation.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and eager to continue developing their engineering and project delivery skills. This position provides exposure to all phases of project development, including due diligence, site design, permitting, construction administration, and client coordination. Team members receive both formal and on-the-job training, mentorship from experienced engineers, and opportunities for increasing responsibility as they progress toward professional licensure.
Responsibilities
- Prepare civil engineering designs and construction documents for land development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway improvements, and site infrastructure.
- Develop engineering calculations, reports, exhibits, and technical documentation to support project design and permitting efforts.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software to prepare plans, profiles, surfaces, alignments, utility layouts, and site grading models.
- Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and utility design calculations.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, architects, surveyors, and public agencies throughout project development and permitting.
- Prepare permit applications and respond to agency review comments as part of the entitlement and permitting process.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and assisting with project closeout.
- Assist Project Managers with project scheduling, coordination, budgeting, and overall project delivery.
- Maintain familiarity with local agency requirements, design standards, and industry best practices.
- Participate in professional development activities and actively pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Advanced degree desirable).
- 3+ years of experience in civil engineering, focusing on land development and infrastructure projects (Advanced degree may substitute for experience).
- Proficiency in civil engineering software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and budgets.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with an active interest in staying informed on contemporary industry issues.
- Proficiency in systems thinking with a keen ability to identify and implement organizational improvements that enhance operational efficiency and project effectiveness.
