Responsible for weekend overnight coverage of the shelter; work performed under the supervision of the Shelter Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School degree or equivalent
- Experience in a helping field of work is helpful
- Understanding of domestic and sexual abuse dynamics
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices
- Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Understanding of Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong ability to be non-judgmental and flexible and ability to work with people from diverse cultural, racial, socio-economic and lifestyle backgrounds
- Dependable, strong work ethic
- Ability to maintain confidential counseling and advocacy relationship
- Good conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle crisis situations in a fast-paced environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to strict confidentiality laws for all clients
- Provide support to shelter residents on evenings, overnights and weekends. (Staff can sleep on overnight shifts, as the work allows)
- Occasional daytime shifts may be available, but are not required
- Holiday shifts required
- Respond to calls and walk-ins as needed, admitting clients to shelter when appropriate.
- Provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for sheltered clients.
- Complete daily shelter cleaning duties
- Assist in deep cleaning rooms after discharge
- Document all calls, walk-ins and client contacts in client services database
- Assist with issues related to communal living
- Maintain established WRFC policies and procedures
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Provide non-judgmental, non-directive support for WRFC clients
- Maintain a professional, confidential relationship with all clients
- Answer 24-hr crisis line
- Provide empathic emotional support to residents and their children
- Interact in a professional/cooperative manner with other staff members and volunteers
- Accept and process in kind donations after hours

Wisconsin Rapids Family Center expects all employees, when time and job responsibilities permit, to lend necessary support to other programs or staff in the agency, when a request is made or when the need is apparent.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
