Part-Time Classroom Aide Position (5th Grade)
Location: St. Mary Catholic School, Spokane Valley
Hours: 7:30 am - 12:00 pm (Monday–Friday)
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Position Overview:
St. Mary Catholic School is seeking a reliable, organized, and supportive individual to join our team in a part-time role providing both clerical assistance and classroom support to our 5th Grade teacher. The aide will also help supervise lower unit lunch recess (11:35 pm - 12:00 pm) on most days. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a school environment, is comfortable supporting teachers and students, and can handle a variety of tasks throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general clerical support to the classroom teacher (e.g., copying, filing, organizing materials, grading support)
- Assist with classroom activities and academic support under teacher direction
- Supervise students during recess and support safe, positive play
- Help with the preparation and cleanup of classroom materials
- Support small group or individual student learning as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned by school staff or administration
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Build positive relationships with students and colleagues
Pay and Benefits:
Starting pay is $17.13 - 17.47 per hour (wage will increase in January, per scheduled state Minimum Wage increase). Offered salary is based on diocesan-wide pay for certain positions, internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills and relevant experience, degrees and certifications. This position is eligible for employee-paid 403(b), state-paid medical and family leave, and sick leave.
