Position Overview
As a PSS Field Supervisor, you will be responsible for conducting the state-mandated supervisory visits required by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for Personal Support Specialist (PSS) staff. This is a flexible, assignment-based role ideal for a seasoned healthcare or direct care professional who is organized, detail-oriented, and well-versed in Maine's home care regulations.
Schedule & Hours
- Assignment-based — no set schedule
- Work is conducted during business hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Hours will vary based on assignment volume
Compensation & Benefits
- $50.00 per hour
- Mileage reimbursement for travel to client locations (up to 50 miles)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct required supervisory visits for new PSS employees every 30 days during their first three months of employment, in compliance with Maine DHHS regulations
- Evaluate PSS staff performance in the field and ensure adherence to each client's individualized care plan
- Document supervisory visit findings accurately and submit timely reports to agency leadership
- Identify any concerns related to client safety, care quality, or staff performance and communicate them promptly
- Maintain working knowledge of Maine DHHS PSS regulations and agency policies
- Travel to client homes within a 50-mile radius as assignments require
Qualifications
- Valid Maine Personal Support Specialist (PSS) training certificate — required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a PSS or in a related direct care or healthcare role — required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, or a related discipline — preferred
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a home care or healthcare setting is a plus
- Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with Maine State law
- Reliable personal transportation with the ability to travel up to 50 miles for client visits
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing assignments independently
