Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor vital signs, record medical information accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems, and report any changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Support patient care activities including catheter care, medication administration under supervision, and basic life support procedures.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, long-term care, memory care, hospice, behavioral health, and other specialized units such as ICU or emergency medicine.
- Assist with medical documentation and ensure accurate recording of patient data using EMR systems like PCC.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers for patients with mobility challenges or disabilities.
- Provide compassionate support for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive impairments in memory or assisted living settings.
Experience
- Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is advantageous.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level II trauma center exposure is a plus.
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs enhances your ability to provide comprehensive patient support.
- Certifications in basic life support (BLS) and phlebotomy are beneficial but not mandatory; training can be provided for qualified candidates.
