We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Gearbox Technician to join our team.
The Gearbox Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and testing industrial gearboxes, including reducers, gear motors, and other power transmission equipment.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with rotating equipment, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming gearboxes for damage, wear, and mechanical failure.
- Disassemble gearboxes and document findings, including measurements and component condition.
- Clean and prepare parts for reassembly using appropriate tools and procedures.
- Repair or replace gears, shafts, bearings, seals, and other gearbox components.
- Reassemble gearboxes to factory and OEM specifications.
- Perform testing to verify proper functionality, alignment, and overall performance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
- Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and protocols.
- Communicate repair status and recommendations with supervisors and customers as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications are a plus).
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience working with industrial gearboxes or other rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency using micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and other precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge of gearbox components and gear types, including:
- Helical
- Bevel
- Worm
- Planetary
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
