Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as administering medications, drawing X-rays, and supporting procedures within the operating room or emergency department.
- Support hospital-based care by managing patient flow in inpatient units like the PICU or Geriatrics wards, ensuring efficient transitions between departments.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to accurately document patient information, ICD coding for diagnoses, and treatment plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning under supervision of licensed providers.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment for outpatient clinics or surgical procedures within medical-surgical or Level I trauma center environments.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring comfort during visits or hospital stays.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings; experience in dermatology, urgent care, or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in managing patient data accurately across diverse medical specialties including internal medicine and geriatrics.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as Level II trauma centers or Level I trauma centers with trauma-specific protocols.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care and service excellence; ability to collaborate seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams including hospital medicine staff.
- Flexibility to support both outpatient clinics and inpatient units across various departments like PICU or medical-surgical floors.
